Our Story

Ocean Pitch began in 2013 when Benny and Lou swapped city careers for life by the coast. After years working for global brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Amazon and Fred Perry, they decided it was time for a new chapter. Both had grown up close to the ocean, and countless surf trips to Croyde during university and RNLI lifeguarding seasons had already secured their love for this spot.

One weekend in Devon changed everything. They came looking for jobs and somewhere to rent, found a field instead, and the vision for Ocean Pitch was born. They ran the campsite for almost a decade before family life and new projects took the reins.

Today, day-to-day management sits with Lottie and Bass. Lottie brings experience in sustainability consultancy and even a season in the Biffen’s Kitchen van, while Bass brings skills from solar farms to resort maintenance.

Now in its thirteenth season, Ocean Pitch continues to thrive, earning multiple national awards including recognition from The Times, The Telegraph, Red Bull and Campsites.co.uk, along with appearances on BBC, ITV and Channel 5, and remains Croyde’s top-rated campsite.

Benny & Lou

Co-founders & owners. Happily married with a young family, surrounded by a vision of running a first-class campsite by the ocean. Now, with Ocean Pitch becoming a mainstay for many at Croyde Bay, they’re one step closer to their vision.

Lottie

Lottie is co-manager at Ocean Pitch and runs SeaPod alongside Bass. Lottie will greet you with a smile, and when she’s not at the campsite, you’ll find her on the netball court or napping in the sun.

Bass

Co-manager of Ocean Pitch and co-owner of Seapod, nothing is too much for Bass. Always happy to help and he can fix pretty much anything. A super chilled-out dude with a wealth of experience.

On-Site Options

No need to leave for dinner. With Biffen’s Kitchens and Waves & Waffles, on-site food has never been easier, nor ever tasted this good! Experience a wide range of cuisines and flavours without leaving the site.
